As we go headlong towards the end of 2017, Google has decided to share with us its ‘Best of’ lists for Google Play. The lists which have been drawn up are U.S. centric and cover several categories, including most popular new apps and new games of 2017, top five streamed songs, top five movies, top five TV shows, as well as top five books of 2017.

Let’s start off with the most popular new apps from the year, Google’s top five includes Photo Editor – Beauty Camera & Photo Filters, What The Forecast?!!, Boomerang, TopBuzz Video: Viral Videos, Funny GIFs & TV shows, and Yarn – Chat Fiction. The Photo Editor app is similar to other beauty cameras in that it allows you to add the finishing touches to a selfie and share on social media.

The year’s most popular new games list was topped by Nintendo’s Super Mario Run, behind that were Bubble Witch 3 Saga, Magic Tiles 3, CATS: Crash Arena Turbo Stars, and Ballz.
