Fandango Crowns Letita Wright the Box Office Queen of 2018

It was quite a year for Letitia Wright.Though she’s worked in the industry since 2011, the Guyanese-born actress remained relatively unknown among American audiences—that is, until February 2018. Wright was deemed the breakout star of Marvel’s Black Panther, where she portrayed the unapologetically confident Shuri. Since then, the 25-year-old has appeared in some of the year’s most commercially successful films; so successful, in fact, that she took the top spot on Fandango’s “Highest Box Office Earning Actors of 2018.”Fandango completed the list based on domestic box office earnings. Wright leads with $1.55 billion, having appeared in Black Panther ($700,059,566), Avengers: Infinity War ($678,815,482), Ready Player One ($137,690,172), and The Commuter (36,343,858).Five of Wright’s Black Panther and Infinity War co-stars—Chadwick Boseman, Winston Duke, Danai Gurira, Florence Kasumba, and Sebastian Stan—took the No. 2 spot with $1.38 billion. Samuel Jackson came in at No. 3 with $1.29 billion; Chris Pratt followed with $1.1 billion, and Josh Brolin rounded out the list with $1 billion. Wright responded to Fandango’s posting via Twitter:The actress is set to appear in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, as well as Hold Back the Stars alongside John Boyega.POST CONTINUES BELOW
