Superhero films form a major part of the cinematic universe, especially for Hollywood fans. The good news is that, with 2018 approaching, the genre will dominate the year more with several movies including Deadpool2, Avengers, Jurassic World hitting the screens next year.
Besides that, there are so many amazing movies releasing even horror flicks that have got us excited. So here’s is a quick rundown on what the next year has in store for us. It’s time to mark your calendars, people!
1. Insidious: The Last Key (Jan. 5)
All you horror movie fans, the fourth installment in the Insidious franchise is all set to send shivers down your spine next year. Horrror is coming home with this one.
2. 12 Strong (Jan 18)
The epic war drama film will tell the story of the first Special Forces team deployed to Afghanistan after 9/11 and how the team works with the Afghan warlord to take down Taliban. Going by the trailer, the movie looks like a compelling tale of heroism and hardship.
3. Maze Runner: The Death Cure (Jan. 26)
After a wait of almost three years, the next instalment in the science-fiction action thriller is finally hitting the screens in 2018. Going by the trailer, it looks like a 90’s classic. The mission is to enter a deadly maze and save friends and find a cure for the deadly disease called Flare.
4. Black Panther (Feb. 16)
Based on the namesake character, the Marvel movie will showcase the life of T’Challa, who after the death of his father, will return to African technologically advanced nation to succeed the throne.
5. Tomb Raider (March 16)
We are all familiar with the curse of video-to-movie adaptations. However, this one looks promising. After the last two Tomb Raider films, this one will take a cue from 2013 video game of the same name by Crystal Dynamics.
6. Pacific Rim: Uprising (March 22)
Sequel to the 2013 film Pacific Rim, the movie will follow a new generation of monster fighters led by Jake Pentecost (John Boyega) as a new threat against humanity emerges. The movie will capture same larger-than-life spirit, as per speculations.
7. Ready Player One (March 30)
Are you ready for “a world where the limit of reality is your own imagination”?
Imagine if a man creates a world of virtual reality and later dies to only offer his metaverse to the one who solves his puzzle. Directed by Steven Spielberg, Ready Player One, the science fiction film revolves around a virtual reality world called Oasis, whose creator dies challenging others to find his Easter Egg, which gives the finder his fortune.
8. Fifty Shades Freed (April 17)
The third instalment of the erotic thriller trilogy is all set to release next year. After accepting Christian Grey’s proposal in the last chapter, Anastasia Steele, in this one, will have to adjust to her husband’s new lifestyle as well as controlling nature. Well, going by the trailer, Fifty Shades Freed looks the darkest film in the series!
9. X-Men: The New Mutants and X-Men: Dark Phoenix (April 13, and Nov.)
The New Mutants trailer is already out and fans are impressed. It seems that the American horror film in the superhero genre is going to be the most promising X-Men movie so far, right?
10. Avengers: Infinity War (April 27)
The MCU epic film is coming with another chapter and Avengers fans all over the world are excited about this one. The trailer for the movie, which was released recently has raised the expectation level of the audiences furthermore. After all, it has become the most watched trailer in a day with 230 million across various platforms.
11. Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25)
Star Wars has given Han Solo his own movie! Centered on the character of Han Solo, the second Star Wars anthology film is a standalone instalment. Well, it seems people are not really impressed with the title the makers have given the film, but certainly, they are excitedly waiting for the film to release.

12. Deadpool 2 (June 1)
Ryan Reynold starrer Deadpool 2, the upcoming sequel to Deadpool and the second film in the Deadpool trilogy, will be back next year, ready to break the fourth wall again with hilarity as well as offensive action. Are you ready?
Did you spot the spoiler? The teaser has somewhat confirmed that Nathan Essex, also known as Mister Sinister, is the villain in the film. Well, we don’t know if that’s true but speculations are on among the Marvel fans who suspect that a key super-villain from X-Men may be responsible for Deadpool and Cable’s team up.
Well, the mystery will only be solved when the movie hits the screen in 2018, and we know that there’s a lot of time before that happens.
13. Ocean 8 (June 8)
Want to watch a star-studded Hollywood film? The all-women spin-off of Ocean trilogy is all set to release in 2018, and for that Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson, Awkwafin, Rihanna, Helena Bonham Carter are coming together in one frame.
14. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (June 22)
Jurassic World was a rage when it first released in 2015 adding to the growing stardom of Chris Pratt. It has been quite long since the first part of the trilogy was released. However, in 2018, Chris Pratt will be back with the adventures that involve running, screaming and a lot of chaos. Get ready to see the dinosaurs on the big screen again!
15. Ant-Man and the Wasp (July 6)
Although there hasn’t been any confirmation on it, Ant-Man and the Wasp is Touted as Marvel’s first romantic comedy. Marvel films are generally action-packed, but they have a different genre. Like Captain America: Civil War was a political thriller and Deadpool was more or less a comedy, this one, according to the speculations is going to be a romantic comedy.
16. The Nun (July 13)
If you love horror movie, you shall not miss one. A spin off of The Conjuring 2 (2016), The Nun is the fifth film in The Conjuring series. In this one, a priest will head to Rome to investigate the mysterious death of a nun.
17. The Incredibles 2 (July 14)
The animated superhero film is a sequel to the 2004-released movie. In this one, Bob Parr (Mr. Incredible) is left to care for Jack-Jack while Helen (Elastigirl) is out saving the world. the trailer for the movie is expected to be out soon.
18. Mission: Impossible 6 (July 27)
It’s been a long time that we have been seeing Mission Impossible films, but with each new one in the franchise, the makers bring a fresh yet high-tech thrills for the audiences. Tom Cruise is coming on the big screen with yet another globe-trotting adventure.
19. Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald (Nov. 16)
Harry Potter fans, here’s another film, an extension of the wizarding world releasing next year. It is the second instalment of the five-film series after Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
20. Aquaman (Dec. 21)
Aquaman may talk to fish in the comic, but in his standalone movie, the character played by will likely to showcase much greater powers in the movie, according to the speculations. The movie will show the backstory of the character. So, are you ready to get bowled over by Momoa, the hottie, in yet another movie?
21. Mary Poppins Returns (Dec. 25)
It has been a really long time since the last musical-fantasy film was released in 1964. However, Disney is coming back with one if its most beloved films. In this one, Emily Blunt is taking on the role from Julie Andrews. Also starring Meryl Streep, Julie Walters and Colin Firth among others, the movie is set 25 years after the story of the original.
